Mission:

Provide A&AS support to JFCC IMD J5 in executing its mission in support of the SecDef, Joint Staff, Uniformed Services, Combatant Commands, Missile Defense Agency, other Agencies, and Allied/Partner Nations.  The objective is to provide missile defense mission area support to integrate and operationalize missile defense capabilities to meet operational requirements.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  •  Support interface with Joint Staff, Combatant Commands, Service staffs and components for the development of recommendations to support Global Force Management
  •   Provide subject matter expertise in support of assessments of strategic level policy documents, to include: Unified Command Plan, National Military Strategy, Global Employment of Forces, Joint Strategic Capabilities Plan, and Global Force Management Implementation Guidance
  •  Correlate missile defense planning within the framework established by Joint Staff and Office of Secretary of Defense
  •  Support the development of strategic initiatives for future planning efforts using experience in strategic policy, joint operational planning, deliberate planning, and Joint Operation Plans and Execution System (JOPES)
  •  Provide recommendations on missile defense inputs into USSTRATCOM contingency plans
  •  Interface with planners at USSTRATCOM and missile defense cells in the GCCs to support development of missile defense appendices
  •  Provide subject matter expertise on ballistic missile defense capabilities and interfaces with Missile Defense Agency to provide technical analysis supporting plan development
  •  Support GCC plan assessments, adversary-centric bundled plans assessments, and development of strategies to mitigate deficiencies
  •  Attend and support conferences, meetings and briefings

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Strong understanding of Missile Defense and Combatant Commands' areas of responsibility
  • Understanding of strategic plans and policy
  • minimum of 20 years of operational experience that is applicable to the position duties
  • Travel: 10%
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • An active DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility is required to perform this work. Candidates are required to have an active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility upon hire, and the ability to maintain this level of clearance during their employment
  • Bachelor's Degree
  •  Desired Strategic plans or policy experience at Combatant Command level

Security Responsibilities:

 Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • This job operates in multiple environments: a professional office environment, operational military training environment including adverse weather and terrain, and in a classroom environment. While in a military training environment, the position requires the wear of military uniforms, Army combat helmet, the use of night vision goggles, and standard Army personal protective equipment.  This job routinely requires the ability to lift 50 pounds or more and can include lengthy periods of walking.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.  It also uses and troubleshoots small to medium signal transmitters, military equipment, and spectrum analyzers.
