Mission:

Quantum Research is currently seeking a senior-level candidate to serve as a Kubernetes Engineer (Secret Clearance is preferred minimum) to support the mission and objectives of Kessel Run (KR), a detachment of the U.S. Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC). KR leverages industry best practices and products to rapidly deliver capabilities while posturing for future and potentially disruptive information technology (IT). Kessel Run revolutionizes the way that the Air Force builds and acquires software to meet the needs of Airmen across the globe. It embraces Agile principles, DevSecOps, and lean product management practices to continuously integrate and deliver software capabilities. KR also embraces a culture of rapid feedback loops (e.g. build, measure, learn) and user-centered design managed by Government-led teams to rapidly develop, produce, and deploy software across the Air Operations Centers and other Air Force programs, while continuously iterating and improving upon those software applications. Location: Position location preferably in the Boston , MA area (Remote Work Available)

Responsibilities:

  • The ideal candidate will convert Kessel Run (KR) Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF) native applications to Kubernetes native applications.
  • Decoupling KR applications from PCF native services, enable KR Government employees and Military personnel in all aspects of migrations, create Helm charts for the entirety of each application and determine which services should be native to the application and which should be implemented by the All Domain Common Platform (ADCP) (i.e., should we be leveraging open source, third party, Kubernetes operators or developing our own operators, or should the application be implementing their own dependent helm charts for services
  • They will create Gitlab pipelines &/or web service APIs to feed Docker images and Helm charts through Kessel Run's Security Release process.

Requirements:

  • Three-plus (3+) years of experience developing containerized services deployed in production on orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes, Mesos, etc.
  • Deep understanding of modern microservices architectures, design patterns, data management, resiliency techniques, and optimizations.
  • Experience writing and deploying applications to Kubernetes using Helm charts.
  • Experience implementing and using Kubernetes Operators and Custom Resource Definitions

Desired:

  • Three-plus (3+) years of experience building developer platform services and APIs that scale in production.
  • Three-plus (3+) years of experience building production services using Cloud Infrastructure Providers such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Manage, report, and facilitate certification of access for all in-scope resources (including SaaS, AWS, Azure, CSS managed applications, tools, and systems).
  • Principal Level Minimum Education/Experience Requirements:
  • Three-plus (3+) years of experience leading teams building and developing containerized services deployed in production on orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes, Mesos, etc.
  • Three-plus (3+) years of experience building developer platform services and APIs that scale in production.
  • Three-plus (3+) years of experience building production services using Cloud Infrastructure Providers such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Secret or higher active Clearance
