Mission:

Quantum Research is currently seeking a senior-level candidate to serve as a DevOps Engineer IV with a Top Secret Clearance to support the mission and objectives of Kessel Run (KR), a detachment of the U.S. Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC). KR leverages industry best practices and products to rapidly deliver capabilities while posturing for future and potentially disruptive information technology (IT). Kessel Run revolutionizes the way that the Air Force builds and acquires software to meet the needs of Airmen across the globe. It embraces Agile principles, DevSecOps, and lean product management practices to continuously integrate and deliver software capabilities. KR also embraces a culture of rapid feedback loops (e.g. build, measure, learn) and user-centered design managed by Government-led teams to rapidly develop, produce, and deploy software across the Air Operations Centers and other Air Force programs, while continuously iterating and improving upon those software applications.

 

Responsibilities:

Senior member of the team responsible for the overall design and implementation of modern cloud infrastructure and associated containerization and software development platforms. Strong platform development skills and experience developing core platform services and implementing Infrastructure as Code. Designs and maintains systems to achieve high reliability and availability. Works with Software and Data Engineers to design, implement, and configure commercial and DoD software applications and features within the cloud environment. Works with other USAF cyber organizations to ensure connectivity and reliable operations of the infrastructure. Must have strong experience with network and server administration, to include command line interfaces and scripting. Experienced with various PaaS platforms, vSphere and Docker.

The qualified candidate will have a keen interest in DevOps philosophies and an extensive background in implementing systems utilizing DevOps practices. The position is hands-on; therefore, the successful candidate will have strong implementation, system diagnostic and leadership skills. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overall reliability of the platform including physical and virtual server environments and configuration of cloud environments. Individual will have strong understanding of Pivotal Cloud Foundry, Cloud One and other PaaS platforms. Expertise with Infrastructure as Code and a mindset of "automate everything". Other key areas of responsibility include:

  • Regularly interface with technical and business staff of customers, including the project sponsor and stakeholders of projects in more complex engagements.
  • Serve as technical point of contact on customer engagements.
  • Manage time and expense to meet or exceed expectations defined in the Statement of Work.
  • Provide high quality content deliverables using the appropriate document templates.
  • Ensure solution is implemented as designed to the customer's satisfaction and approval.
  • Educate the customer on solution as appropriate throughout the life of the project or service life.
  • Responsible for design, implementation, and troubleshooting the customer's endpoint/user environment.
  • Expertise in VMWare' product offerings
  • Experience with automation in an enterprise environment with the mindset of a DevOps Engineer, SRE, or an Automation Developer.
  • Conduct throughput analysis, problem solving, and infrastructure planning.
  • Participate in various client projects intended to continually improve/upgrade the security posture the client's user environments.
  • Assist in the management of projects using project management methodology.
  • Work with Professional Services Managers, OEMs, Project Managers and customers to manage expectations and timelines to ensure expectations and commitments are being met.
  • Educates the customer on solution as appropriate throughout the life of the project or service life.

 

Requirements:

  • Must have a Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of experience; OR Master's degree and 4 years of experience. A degree with emphasis on Computer Science or Computer Engineering).
  • Experience with software architecture, design, and testing
  • Experience with release management tools and techniques
  • Experience in production with Pivotal Cloud Foundry, Kubernetes, or other automated deployment, scaling, and management of containerized application principles
  • Experience in production with a major Cloud provider, including AWS, Azure, or GCE
  • Experience with continuous integration and delivery pipelines, including Jenkins, CircleCI, or TravisCI
  • Experience with a scripting language, including Bash, Python, or Ruby
  • Eligible to obtain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance

 

Desired:

  • Understanding of Pivotal Cloud Foundry, Kubernetes, or other automated deployment, scaling, and management of containerized application principles
  • DoD cybersecurity experience is a plus
  • Currently valid Security+ CE, CASP, CISSP or similar security certification
  • Experience with corporate networking fundamentals and network security best practices
  • Experience with how to set up and administer Pivotal Cloud Foundry or Kubernetes monitoring and alerting tools
  • Experience with service meshes
  • Knowledge of how to set up and administer Splunk, ElasticSearch, or other log aggregation products

Current DoD TOP SECRET clearance with SCI Eligibility required to start.
