Quantum Research is currently seeking a senior-level candidate to serve as a Site Reliability Engineer III with a Secret Clearance to support the mission and objectives of Kessel Run (KR), a detachment of the U.S. Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC). KR leverages industry best practices and products to rapidly deliver capabilities while posturing for future and potentially disruptive information technology (IT). Kessel Run revolutionizes the way that the Air Force builds and acquires software to meet the needs of Airmen across the globe. It embraces Agile principles, DevSecOps, and lean product management practices to continuously integrate and deliver software capabilities. KR also embraces a culture of rapid feedback loops (e.g. build, measure, learn) and user-centered design managed by Government-led teams to rapidly develop, produce, and deploy software across the Air Operations Centers and other Air Force programs, while continuously iterating and improving upon those software applications.



Work to help define, implement, and operate the technical infrastructure of a mission critical services. Provide an expert's perspective on how to improve and maintain service level objectives (SLO) for systems that will deploy to a wide variety of infrastructure and handle missions critical to the federal government. Implement processes, assessments, custom tools, and vendor appliances to help enable peak reliability, stability, and operational engagement for micro service development teams. Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for implementing DevSecOps best practices while establishing a continuous delivery pipeline. Assess performance and stability issues in production, lead blameless postmortem retrospectives, develop frameworks that collect and evaluate system telemetry, and write operational documents.

The qualified candidate will have a keen interest in DevOps philosophies and an extensive background in implementing systems utilizing DevOps practices. The position is hands-on; therefore, the successful candidate will have strong implementation, system diagnostic and leadership skills. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overall reliability of the platform including physical and virtual server environments and configuration of cloud environments. Individual will have strong understanding of Pivotal Cloud Foundry, Cloud One and other PaaS platforms. Expertise with Infrastructure as Code and a mindset of "automate everything".



  • Must have a Bachelor's degree and 6+ years of experience; OR Master's degree and 2 years of experience. A degree with emphasis on Computer Science or Computer Engineering).
  • Experience with software architecture, design, and testing
  • Experience with release management tools and techniques
  • Experience in production with Pivotal Cloud Foundry, Kubernetes, or other automated deployment, scaling, and management of containerized application principles
  • Experience in production with a major Cloud provider, including AWS, Azure, or GCE
  • Experience with continuous integration and delivery pipelines, including Jenkins, CircleCI, or TravisCI
  • Experience with a scripting language, including Bash, Python, or Ruby
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance
  • Understanding of Pivotal Cloud Foundry, Kubernetes, or other automated deployment, scaling, and management of containerized application principles
  • DoD cybersecurity experience is a plus
  • Currently valid Security+ CE, CASP, CISSP or similar security certification
  • Experience with corporate networking fundamentals and network security best practices
  • Experience with how to set up and administer Pivotal Cloud Foundry or Kubernetes monitoring and alerting tools
  • Experience with service meshes
  • Knowledge of how to set up and administer Splunk, ElasticSearch, or other log aggregation products
